The NHS Pension Scheme offers several options, including:
- Normal retirement at your pension age
- Early retirement (reduced pension may apply)
- Partial/Flexible retirement allowing you to reduce your hours while accessing some pension benefits
- Retire and Return, where you retire from your substantive post and continue working in a different capacity, such as on the Staff Bank
Important for Bank Workers
If you are retiring from a substantive NHS role but wish to remain on the Staff Bank, please let the Staff Bank team know. Your Bank post does not automatically end when you retire from your substantive role, and this could affect your pension arrangements if not managed correctly.
If you are retiring from your Bank post, retirement paperwork should be submitted around five months before your retirement date to allow sufficient processing time.
