A busy 35 bedded ward with 6 monitored beds and the ability to provide NIV for 6 patients. A regional Centre for Cystic Fibrosis admitting patients directly to the ward area. We have Nurse Specialists such as Acute Respiratory Assessment (ARAS) Nurses providing home oxygen, Cystic Fibrosis Nurse Specialists reviewing patients regularly to try and reduce hospital admissions.
Respiratory Medicine has a dedicated treatment room to provide a Pleural Service for any patient within the hospital requiring a chest drain insertion and management. The ward also has telemetry for our cardiac patients working closely with the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE) interventional cardiology.
