“I like working here it’s a very supportive, friendly team that I work with. There’s good variety as an ODP I’ve been given the opportunity already to work as a scrub practitioner and in anaesthetics. As I’m newly qualified, it is quite challenging, but as I said it’s a very supportive team there’s always someone on hand to lend you a hand.

“It’s a job that you get to see you’re helping people, curing people and yes it is very rewarding.

“There’s not really a typical day, it all depends on what operations are on your list and if you’re working as a scrub practitioner or as an anaesthetic practitioner.

“Generally it means coming in in the morning, checking what list is out, preparing for those cases, as a scrub practitioner making sure that the trays are available, all the equipment’s available, either scrubbing for a case or circulating on a case.

“Already I’ve had an induction, I’ve been told about courses that I can go on to further my development, and yes, continuous development is something that is stressed.

“It’s a lovely place to working and live. I’ve lived in other place in Scotland, but Edinburgh’s definitely the best.”
