The best place to find all our current vacancies is on NHS Scotland’s JobTrain website, then select ‘Lothian’ then the ‘Job Type’ you are interested in. On the website all the vacancies are in categories to help with your search. Doctor vacancies are advertised on the NHS Scotland Medical Recruitment website.
A list of careers can be found on the Health Careers website. This is an NHS website and it will give a list of all careers within the NHS, an outline of the role, qualifications and experience necessary and how to apply for vacancies.
My World of Work also has a section on health and medicine and lists jobs within this area.
Once you find out about your chosen role, you will know if you have the personal qualities and attributes required for the position.

Once you have found a job that appears of interest to you, click on the job title to find out more information about it.
You can download the job description under the ‘job pack’ tab; you should read through the job description and person specification to make certain you know what the job is about.
The person specification will detail the ‘essential’ and ‘desirable’ requirements of the post holder to successfully undertake the duties and responsibilities detailed in the job description. It will specify the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to perform the role effectively and how these will be assessed. You must at least meet all the essential criteria to be invited to interview.
