NHS Lothian Careers Over 100 Careers: Just One Employer

Career Change / Support into Work

Thinking of a career change? You might not think your skills would be appropriate for a career in the NHS, but a huge range of job roles are needed for NHS Lothian to meet the health care needs of our patients.

We have varying roles from doctors and nurses to porters, catering staff, plumbers, electricians and admin staff – to name a few. For a list of all the roles on offer see the pathways to employment pages.

Support for people with convictions

You may be moving on from prison or have criminal convictions and think you won’t be able to work with NHS Lothian. Having a criminal record will not necessarily stop you from working with NHS Lothian. This will depend on the nature of the position, together with the circumstances and background of your offences or other information contained on a disclosure certificate, self declared or provided directly to us by a police force. We work with some employability groups who will be able to offer you help and advice and support you in your journey to find a job:

Visit our recruitment of people with convictions page for further information.

Transferrable Qualifications

If you are unsure if your qualifications are relevant and transferrable to a job you are interested in, you can visit the Scottish credit and qualification framework website for further information.

Work Experience

We have a variety of work experience opportunities for all ages as well as some specifically for young people.  These placements will give you valuable experience and knowledge to help you in your job search.
