Stroke Medicine and Medicine of the Elderly (MoE)

Stroke Medicine at the Western General specialises in Hyper Acute Stroke and Rehabilitation care. Our Medicine of the Elderly wards specialise in Acute and Rehabilitation care for patients over the age of 65. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in the management and rehabilitation care of frail and complex patients, with experience with Dementia, Acute Delirium and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.

Specialist MOE services range from The Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) Day Hospital, Frailty Clinics, a Mobile Care of the Elderly Team. MOE host the specialist Meaningful Activities Team (MAT) supporting care of elderly cognitively impaired patients across the site. Specialist Fall’s and Dementia Nursing support is available on site.
