This is a nurse led service based at both the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and St Johns Hospital, Livingston. The team work hard to ensure that patients have all the relevant information to make an informed decision prior to their procedure. They are also experts in patient history taking, clinical examination and ordering relevant tests an investigation to ensure the surgery is safe to proceed.
The type of patients pre-assessed for their operation on each site depends on the surgery they conduct.
We offer a robust induction programme and competencies relevant to the area. We also offer post graduate study in the form of the clinical decision and assessment course.
