The Mental Health Rehabilitation Service is currently made up of 5 inpatient wards that provide opportunities to people to learn or re-learn activities of daily living.
The multi-disciplinary team (including the Community Rehabilitation Team) assist inpatients to find suitably supported community accommodation and move out of hospital at a time and pace that meets their needs.
The five wards are as follows:
- Craiglea – this is a 15 bedded male only ward
- Myreside – this is 15 bedded female only ward
- Braids – this is a 15 bedded mixed gender ward
- Northwing – this is a 15 bedded male only ward
- Margaret Duguid Unit – this is a 4 bedded mixed gender ward
Mental health rehabilitation services specialise in working with people whose long term and complex needs cannot be met by general adult mental health services
Rehabilitation services:
- Provide specialist assessment, treatment, interventions and support to help people to recover from complex mental health problems and to (re)gain the skills and confidence to live successfully in the community
- Always work in partnership with service users and carers, adopting a recovery orientation that places collaboration at the centre of all activities
- Work with other agencies that support service users’ recovery and social inclusion, including supported accommodation, education and employment, advocacy and peer support services.
Service users’ have complex and diverse needs including: complex medication regimes; physical health promotion; psychological interventions; self-care; everyday living skills; and meaningful occupation.
Working in the rehabilitation service gives you the opportunity to participate in these areas and make a difference to the lives of people who use our service.
The Rehabilitation Service is undergoing a significant review and designing a purpose built unit which will include a 36 bedded mental health rehab facility and a new 24 bedded Low Secure environment.
