Kay Symoszowskyi

Health Visitor based at Gracemount Health Centre

“Our role gives us an opportunity to make a difference to children’s lives and those of their families.

We work with a range of partners and take a person-centred, holistic approach which is very satisfying.”

Kim McFadyen

Health Visitor based at Gracemount Health Centre

“I feel very privileged to be doing this job, especially being invited into people’s home and lives, often when they are at their most vulnerable. It gives us the opportunity to build valuable relationships with families which is very positive and rewarding.

Edinburgh is a lovely city to work in and the Health Visiting management team has been very supportive.”

Lorna Williams

Health Visitor at both Ferniehill and Liberton Health Centres

“Working with parents and their children is a really varied job. It presents many challenges which require excellent communication skills, which I think nurses excel in. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team with the child at the centre is a worthwhile and valuable experience.

The job is intellectually stimulating with lots of Continuing Professional Development opportunities leading towards best practice and the named person role raises our profile as being key in a child’s life from birth to five years old.”
