Employability skills help individuals working in the health sector to identify the personal skills, qualities, values, attributes, and behaviours needed at each career level within Healthcare. This supports access to posts by sustaining effective working skills and helps staff access different and more senior roles once in a post.
Employability skills help individuals see where they must develop skills and knowledge, seek information and advice about possible development and training. These skills help people to be effective in their roles by combining skills and knowledge with the self-directed ability and the skills to be autonomous in their roles.
Employability programmes provide the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable work experience. These programmes are run in partnership between NHS Lothian and external organisations. They aim to support people into jobs within the NHS through the delivery of structured programmes that support barriers to employment and often include education awards.
