Location in Lothian:

The RHCYP is collated with the Department of Clinical Neurosciences (DCN) and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE) on the Little France site within South East Edinburgh. There are excellent public transport links to the campus with a nearby Park and Ride at Shawfair.

The new state of the art building opened 2021 with a nursing workforce of around 600 whole time equivalent (WTE).

Specialities Available:

Children’s Services have around 140 acute inpatient beds, including Paediatric Critical Care, between RHCYP and the Children’s Ward and a number of Day Case/ Service areas. RHCYP provides a range of tertiary and national specialist services as well as secondary care services. Specialities include Respiratory, Endocrine, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT), General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Haematology and Oncology and Paediatric Critical Care. In 2021, RHCYP became part of the South East Trauma network providing trauma care to the population of 4 health boards (NHS Lothian, Forth Valley, Borders & Fife).
